Open Access and Licensing Policy
The Journal of the Kenya Association of Physicians (JOKAP) is committed to advancing medical knowledge through the widest possible dissemination of research. The journal follows a diamond open access model, which means that authors are not charged submission fees or Article Processing Charges (APCs), and readers are not required to pay subscription fees or register to access journal content. All articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without embargo periods.
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant JOKAP a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive their articles. This arrangement ensures that authors remain free to reuse their work in teaching, presentations, institutional repositories, or future publications, provided that the original version in JOKAP is properly acknowledged.
All articles in JOKAP are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction of the work in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and to the journal. Required attribution should include the article title, author names, journal name, year of publication, and Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
To ensure long-term preservation and accessibility, all articles are archived within the PKP Preservation Network (PN), CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and on the JOKAP website, with additional visibility through African Journals Online (AJOL).
